2020 hopeful John Delaney talks of uniting ‘fractured’ country
Congressman John Delaney pitched himself to Democratic voters Friday as the presidential candidate needed to unite a fractured nation.
“How do we take this country and bring it back together and start focusing on some of the things we agree with each other on?” Delaney asked a crowd of about 30 people Friday morning at Jerry’s Restaurant in Mount Pleasant. “That’s a huge opportunity for the Democratic party because it’s what the country is looking for.”
Delaney, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Maryland, is the only Democratic candidate for president to officially have launched a campaign.
As voters sipped their coffee and enjoyed a round of donuts at the 50-year-old restaurant, he talked about his vision to prepare Americans for 21st century jobs and an economy of the future.
