GAITHERSBURG – Congressman John K. Delaney (MD-6) secured an overwhelming victory in Tuesday’s Democratic primary in Maryland’s Sixth District. A former entrepreneur, Delaney is the only former CEO of a publicly-traded company in the House of Representatives. On Election Day, Delaney greeted voters at polling locations in Potomac, Montgomery Village, Frederick and Hagerstown.
Delaney releases the following statement:
“I am humbled and grateful to receive such overwhelming support from Democratic primary voters in the Sixth District. I very much look forward to continuing to stand up for the people of the Sixth District in the House of Representatives and being an advocate for hardworking Marylanders from Gaithersburg to Oakland – focusing on delivering exceptional constituent services, championing bold new policy ideas to create jobs and taking to Congress an emphasis on getting things done over extreme partisanship. As someone who is new to Congress and after spending over twenty years as a successful entrepreneur and business builder creating thousands of jobs in Maryland, I will continue to bring an outsider’s perspective to growing our economy and working together. To strengthen the middle class for the century ahead, we need to rebuild our infrastructure, become a global clean energy leader and ensure that every kid has access to a world-class education.
“I also congratulate Republican Amie Hoeber, as the Trump-Hoeber ticket was also victorious tonight. I look forward to a spirited debate with Mrs. Hoeber as we head towards November, Mrs. Hoeber has stated repeatedly that she will support Trump if he is the nominee and after tonight we are one step closer to that reality. Mrs. Hoeber will find it challenging to explain how her decision to support Donald Trump – whose agenda will grow our debt by $12 trillion, will weaken our national security, and will continue to divide our country – is consistent with the priorities of the Sixth District.”
