GAITHERSBURG – On Saturday Congressman John K. Delaney (MD-6) opened his first two campaign offices and rallied supporters from across the Sixth District. Over 60 attended the office opening in Hagerstown and over 115 joined Delaney in Gaithersburg. At the office openings Delaney spoke with supporters, recruited new volunteers and outlined his legislative agenda.
“We’re ready and we’re excited,” said Delaney. “Our campaign is going to be the antidote to Donald Trump – real facts, real plans and inclusive values. I’m humbled that so many people joined us in both offices on a cold Saturday and these offices are going to be the heartbeat of our campaign. We’re going to be knocking on doors, working the phones, going up and down the C&O Canal to talk about how we can rebuild America, give every kid a shot and strengthen the middle class.”
The son of a union electrician, attended college on an IBEW scholarship and founded and led two successful Maryland businesses before the age of forty, creating thousands of jobs. Delaney is the only former CEO of a publicly-traded company in the House of Representatives.
In Congress, John has become a national leader on how to make the economy work for middle class families by combining real-world experience and innovative new policy ideas. Delaney is the author of major bipartisan infrastructure legislation that would create over a million jobs, a bill to establish free universal pre-k for all four-year-olds, and climate change legislation to reduce carbon pollution while assisting working families and impacted coal workers. Delaney has also led the effort to improve hostage recovery policy and has supported increased pay for active duty military, improved benefits for veterans and filed legislation establishing new sanctions on Iran.
