Delaney Campaigns Across Fourteen Iowa Counties
WASHINGTON – Monday evening in Fort Dodge, Congressman John K. Delaney completed his third campaign trip to Iowa, wrapping up a fourteen-county swing across the state that featured over 20 stops. Congressman Delaney met with Iowa voters in coffee shops, public libraries, restaurants and at house parties. Delaney is the first declared Democratic candidate for President in 2020 and the only-former CEO of a publicly-traded company in the House of Representatives.
“The one thing that’s clear is that Iowans know presidential politics and they appreciate that I can be honest with them about why I’m here. No games, no cat and mouse, just real conversations with people of Iowa. County by county, we’re going to talk about the future of this country and how we can make sure that everyone everywhere has an opportunity to succeed,” said Congressman Delaney. “The issues facing the Democratic Party are especially acute in Iowa, this is a state that swung 20 points from Obama to Trump and we’ve got to have an entirely new conversation and that starts with hitting the road and listening. You can’t connect with voters in St. Ansgar or Hiawatha from a TV set. My campaign is about rising above hyper-partisan politics, embracing new ideas and building a more inclusive capitalism so that more people can live the American Dream.”
Since launching his campaign, Delaney has made three trips to Iowa, two trips to New Hampshire, as well as campaign visits to North Carolina and South Carolina. Delaney will be back in Iowa and New Hampshire in the coming weeks.
